Zoom
This technology that I have chosen is Zoom. This technology is a tool from Dr. Wang’s PPT and it is specifically from the Top 15 software mentioned by Elementary vs Secondary teachers.
What it is:
This
technology is a communicative platform that allows users to connect
online for video conference meetings, webinars and live chat. Zoom
provides students and teachers with a way to connect live without having
to meet in person.
How to join a zoom meeting
Usage and what it's able to do:
- Zoom is very portable. You can access zoom through any desktop or on any mobile device with an internet connection.
- This technology is easy to use for teachers and students. Teacher can host a zoom meeting by first logging into zoom with their google account. Then, they can click "host" and a zoom meeting with a unique link and code will generate. Teachers then can share this link or code with students who can enter the code or click the link and join the live zoom meeting.
- Zoom
also allows users to record meetings. Teachers can record meetings and
post the meetings for students who maybe weren't able to attend or for
students to go back and review content that was being taught.
I think the likelihood of using zoom in my classroom is high. I think I could use zoom in my classroom to have guest speakers call in and have a live conference with my students.
Inside of Zoom
Connection to TLC and SAMR:
This
technology connects to the TLC framework because it provides teachers
with many different ways to teach, provide content to learn and
communicate with students. Zoom gives teachers an easy and portable way
to teach content. It also gives students an easy way to learn and
provides them a way to do so from wherever they are at as long as they
have an internet connection. Zoom also makes communication easier
between students and teachers. Instead of just communicating through
emails or phone calls, zoom provides a way to communicate face to face
without actually having to be in the same room. This technology also
connects to SAMR because it falls under the R which is redefinition.
This technology allows teachers to connect with students virtually which
creates new tasks that used to be inconceivable.
